American Public Television-Distributed Programs Earn 11 Daytime Emmy® Nominations
Popular public television lifestyle series and hosts honored in multiple categoriesBOSTON (March 25, 2016) – On March 24, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) honored nine American Public Television (APT)-distributed programs with a total of 11 Daytime Emmy nominations.
Four APT cooking series received nominations in the “Outstanding Culinary Program” category: America’s Test Kitchen, Cook’s Country, Mexico – One Plate at a Time With Rick Bayless, and Pati’s Mexican Table. Pati Jinich (Pati’s Mexican Table) and Jacques Pépin (Jacques Pépin: Heart & Soul) were both nominated for “Outstanding Culinary Host.”
The long-running travel series Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope received nominations in two categories – “Outstanding Cinematography” and “Outstanding Sound Editing – Live Action.” Christine von Blokland, a longtime entertainment journalist and the charismatic star of Curious Traveler, garnered a nomination for “Outstanding Lifestyle/Travel/Children’s Series Host.”
Rough Cut – Woodworking With Tommy Mac, a half-hour series hosted by furniture maker Tommy MacDonald, was nominated for “Outstanding Lifestyle Program.”
Dr. Peter Salgo, longtime host of the award-winning health series Second Opinion, was nominated for “Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host.”
The Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented on May 1, 2016. The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards gala, which honors the more than 65 craft categories behind the many shows that grace the Daytime genre, will be held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites on April 29, 2016.
